SEBASTE

Tradition, quality, and passion for five generations

Since 1885, the name Sebaste has been synonymous with Piedmontese confectionery tradition at the highest level of craftsmanship. The company was founded by Giuseppe Sebaste in Alba, in the heart of Piedmont, where as a young pastry chef he began to pursue the then novel idea of making torrone (nougat) not with almonds, but with the finest hazelnuts from the region. This decision has shaped the brand's distinctive character to this day. The success of his creations soon led to the founding of his own company, which was later relocated to Grinzane Cavour—the company's headquarters to this day. Sebaste quickly became a recognized manufacturer of traditional Italian confectionery, including torrone, tartufi dolci, and other hazelnut-based specialties.

The history of the company is also a family history spanning five generations. The founder's descendants have preserved the artisanal heritage while also modernizing it. The brand was officially registered in the 1920s – the symbol of the rooster (Gallo) is still a reminder of the historic location “Piana Gallo” today. In the following decades, Sebaste grew steadily, modernized its production, took over other traditional companies such as Torrone Martino, and expanded its exports to numerous countries. Today, Sebaste is still run by the Sebaste family – with over 140 years of experience and an unwavering focus on quality, regional ingredients, and craftsmanship. Hazelnuts, especially the Piedmontese variety Tonda Gentile, remain at the heart of all products and give them their characteristic flavor. With this combination of tradition, passion, and innovation, Sebaste laid the foundation for the creation of Antica Torroneria Piemontese, which is now considered a premium brand in exclusive specialty stores. Both brands are produced in the same factory and share the same origins: a deeply rooted family business that has shaped Italian confectionery culture for more than a century.
