Cioccafè

Craftsmanship and a passion for sweet temptation

The Cioccafè brand stands for tradition, innovation and a love of artisan confectionery. Its story begins with Laura Ferruolo, who learned the ancient Neapolitan art of making sugared almonds from her grandfather. Together with her husband Felice Basile, she founded “Confettificio Ferruolo” in 1970, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of a wide variety of coated almonds. Thanks to his extraordinary talent and dedication, Felice Basile soon became known as “Maestro Sor Felice” and was able to continuously deepen his extensive experience in the production of sugared almonds and other sweet specialties. With a modest production facility near Rome, the company developed over the years into a true specialist in chocolate-coated confectionery. In the early 1990s, a fundamental reorientation took place: production shifted from coated almonds to the manufacture of high-quality chocolate pralines.

In September 1995, Maestro Sor Felice created a groundbreaking innovation: an exquisite praline made from a bean of fine “Santos” coffee, traditionally roasted with wood and coated in fine dark chocolate. This unique creation was given the name “Cioccafè” - and quickly became a resounding success. The increasing demand led to considerable investment: New machines were purchased, additional staff were hired and the Cioccafè brand was patented internationally. Another milestone followed on March 9, 2000, when Maestro Sor Felice founded “Cioccafè S.r.l.” together with his son Salvatore and his daughter Annalisa. was founded. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the company has since succeeded in producing the highest quality in large quantities without losing its traditional artisan character. Over the years, Cioccafè has developed into an internationally recognized brand. Local subsidiaries and worldwide partnerships form the strong foundation of the organization. But despite the considerable growth and success, one thing remains unchanged: the passion and dedication with which Maestro Sor Felice leads his life's work. His guiding principle is still an expression of Cioccafè's philosophy today: “We are and remain craftsmen... in sweetness."
