Casa Vecchio Mulino

Grissini tradition since 1860

When the scent of freshly baked grissini drifts through the streets and carries with it the story of an entire family, the journey begins into the world of Casa Vecchio Mulino – a bakery tradition dating back to 1860. It all began when great-grandfather Giacomo Bertolone opened his first bakery in Pino Torinese, a charming hill town in the province of Turin already known for its Grissini Rubatà. It didn’t take long for Giacomo’s hand-rolled, golden-baked grissini to become famous far beyond the region. Legend has it that people would queue in long lines waiting for the daily baking – and that the warm aroma from his oven would float down the narrow streets, drawing everyone in. Even before the unification of Italy, Giacomo’s Rubatà grissini had earned their place on the tables of Turin’s most distinguished families – a testament to the exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and passion that defined his work then and still does today. A legacy passed through generations Giacomo’s passion was shared with his nine children, including Oreste, who opened his own bakery in 1925 and later established the new family workshop in Carmagnola – right beside the old town mill, which still gives Casa Vecchio Mulino its name. Craftsmanship rooted in history – Quality certified To this day, Casa Vecchio Mulino grissini are made by hand using traditional methods – crispy, golden, and full of character, crafted with only the finest ingredients and true dedication.
